Typically, Layer 2 (L2) tokens lag behind their Layer 1 (L1) competitors in terms of performance. However, they are currently outperforming them in the face of a surge in Ether.
According to CoinGecko, a number of L2 tokens have grown in the last 24 hours. New project Unit0 (UNITO) led the performance with an increase of 40%, followed by Cybria (CYBA).
In third place was Optimism (OP), one of the pioneers of the L2 currency, which grew by 18.21 TP3T. Mode (MODE) followed closely behind, up 14.91 TP3T.
Also of note is the Arbitrum (ARB), with a price tag of 11.5%.

L2 tokens fell out of the top 5 performing currencies over the past three months, ranking sixth with a gain of 21%. The sector was overtaken by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tokens and Privacy coins, which grew by 41% and 27% respectively.
